Our 32-metre traditional Indonesian phinisi is the most experienced boat in Raja Ampat, offering unparalleled possibilities to discover an Indonesian island paradise. We operate year round in the Raja Ampat area and have more experience and knowledge of these seas than other operators. .
Shakti was launched in 2000 in Tanah Beru, a small village on the Island of Sulawesi, which has a long phinisi boat-building history. It was the first boats in the area and can draw from almost 2 decades of diving and exploring the Raja Ampat waters. The team’s knowledge about the area; its culture, people, mystical stories and marine life is outstanding and unparalleled. In recognition, Shakti has been used by television teams such as the BBC’s Planet Earth team, as a base for producing nature documentaries.
Completely renovated in 2016, Shakti’s interior has been specifically designed to accommodate 10 guests in comfort meeting all the standards and needs of the guests. Each of 6 spacious cabins have individually controlled air conditioning and electricity 24 hours a day and en suite bathrooms.
The Shakti crew is a team of 8 Indonesian men, most of whom have worked together on Shakti for many years.
David Pagliari – a one time Scott - is one of the owners and skippers of the boat. He launched Shakti and draws from almost 2 decades of diving and exploring the Raja Ampat waters. Bob Brunskill – an Englishman - has worked with Shakto for many years and became an owner in 2015. He runs most of the trips these days and has a decade of experience planning and executing dive trips in Indonesia and working on superyachts in Asian waters.
Our chef will create meals with a distinctly Indonesian flavour taking advantage of the exceptional local produce and abundant fish and seafood. Meals at Shakti are a mix of Western and Asian and may be tailored to suit individual tastes. Fresh exotic fruits, juices as well as snacks are available anytime.
